TERMS DEFINED

Prenatal Visit

Let's get acquainted! During prenatal prep, we will address any fears you have surrounding birth, I will prepare you in communicating more effectively with your care provider, help you create your birth plan, work with you and your partner to prepare in the area of relaxation and coping techniques for the big day, share additional resources, help you organize your nursery area, and create a postpartum plan.

Postpartum Visit

Let's put your postpartum plan into action! Postpartum visits involve in-home care to aid in your best possible recovery. Care in the early days (first 6 weeks) post-delivery are crucial to your healing, bonding with baby and adjusting to your new family dynamic. During our postpartum visits we will review the birth, I'll assist you with new routines, caring for your body, and breastfeeding.

Postpartum care can really be anything you need it to be. Create a list of your "to-do's" and needs and I will help with the rest.

Need help putting together baby furniture? YOU GOT IT! Need a nap or a shower..or both? YOU GOT IT. Need a good nights sleep to feel refreshed? I'M THERE! Maybe you just need a listening ear to vent and chat about life while I hold baby. Whatever your needs are, I will help you have a successful start to this new family life and relieve some of the stress from this usually very difficult time of adjustment.

Birth Plan

Did you know that you have choices and the right to decide what happens during your labor, birth, and to your baby after birth? As your Doula, I highly encourage you to take a childbirth class and do plenty of your own research on evidence-based care. Doing so will prepare you in making decisions such as your preferences during labor and birth, and newborn procedures. When we create your birth plan, I will help you navigate your many options. We will discuss the benefits and risks of these options. While we are not in total control of what occurs during labor and birth and what our babies and bodies decide to do, we prepare as much as possible by creating a list of preferences. You will receive 2 copies of your completed list of preferences; one to keep for yourself and one to give to your Care Provider.

Postpartum Plan

The same way that creating a birth plan helps you to have satisfying and favorable outcomes during labor and birth, a postpartum plan also helps to make what is a usually very challenging time feel a little bit easier. I will assist you in organizing and preparing in the areas of practical tasks to prioritizing your mental health.
